Blankets, best comic of the year

Time has published their best comics of 2003 and Craig Thompson's excellent Blankets tops the list. In many ways Blankets exceeds its praise--the perfect blending of themes across words, pictures, panels and pages is hard to appreciate until you're immersed in it. Thompson's skill at using the constraints and opportunities of the comics form has to be experienced. It's what makes Blankets so great.
