Bikes!

Electra Townie

I'm thinking of buying a bike. In fact, I'm pretty sure I'm going to buy a bike--and the one that's caught my eye is the Electra Townie. I like the blue 21-speed, but I'm also partial to this red one with the chain guard.

The Townie is a comfort bike, and that reflects a change in my attitude about cycling. Normally I'd buy something that I could theoretically ride in the dead of winter--even though I never would. Maybe it's age, but I'm kind of excited that you can get bells and streamers.

Every spring I ask myself: "does it make economic sense to buy a bike?" In past years I haven't had anywhere to store a bike or I couldn't really ride to work. This year I have a garage, an easy commute and the extra incentive of high gasoline prices. If I can cut my city driving in half over the spring and summer, the Townie should pay for itself in two years.
