AIfIA Translation Project launches

Over the past six weeks or so I've been helping with the launch of AIfIA Translation Project. The team members are working, on their own time, to translate articles about information architecture to and from various languages. There are seven active languages now--Danish, Dutch, French, Italian, Japanese, Portuguese and Spanish--and more planned. Also, they've secured the translation rights to an excellent collection of IA articles.

What makes this project so cool is that the translation team is spread over four continents (led by Peter Van Dijck in NYC), and they collaborate virtually (primarily with mailing lists and a Wiki) to do all their work. They're also totally passionate about the discipline and committed to spreading the IA gospel all over the world.

More details on the project can be found in this press release and backgrounder. Also, take a minute to visit the language pages: Danish, Dutch, French, Italian, Japanese, Portuguese and Spanish. (All of these pages are built using Movable Type).
