Information Architects banned in Ohio

Ohio's board for landscape and construction architect certification is trying prevent anyone in the IT field using 'architect' in their job description. This SIGIA post has all the details. It's an old-school power play--construction architects in Ohio want to own the term and force system architects, information architects and even L'Oreal's Lash Architect to find a new name.

This might have been reasonable before the IT explosion--when building architecture was the only kind--but now it seems faintly ridiculous. There's no overlap in the domains, so there's no chance you'll accidentally hire an IA to design an addition for your house. Also, architecture has an accepted meaning in computer science that can't be un-done.
