The Amazing Adventures of Peter Parker?

Michael Chabon will write the next Spider-Man movie. Not sure why, but this news fills me with a sense of impending disappointment. Sure, the first Spider-Man movie was well-received, but the descent of the Spider sequels into franchise movie hell seems inevitable. [Addendum: perhaps this is the moment when Michael Chabon jumps the shark.]

After I finished Kavalier and Clay, I sent Chabon an email thanking him for a great book. This was his reply:

I'm so glad you enjoyed it...

Seriously. I'm not making that up. I've filed it away with my postcard from Adam Yauch.
