Thirty-three things, an introduction
Official Rules
These, then, are the rules I'm using to select each of the 33 things:
- In this case, things means objects chosen for their shape, colour, design, meaning, being the centre of a good anecdote, and that sort of thing.
- While not strictly prohibited, objects that are mass-produced will be frowned upon unless the instance of the object has some qualities that distinguish it from others of its kind. (But I think I'll allow old or rare or ingeniously designed mass-produced objects.)
- No people. A thing might contain people (like a building or a car) or involve people (like a bicycle), but it can't be a person. No pets either.
- Nothing can be chosen just for its sentimental value.
- No two things can be alike.
I reserve the right to break any of the above rules as needed, without warning or compunction. Although I'll be making my best effort to follow them since they make the whole project more interesting. (In general I'm trying to avoid books, music, movies, media, and other everyday consumables, since assembling lists of these is fairly trivial.)
So there it is. I have no idea how this will turn out, since my mental list of things currently falls far short of 33. But I suppose that's part of the fun, innit?
