SNL musical guests

SNL musical guests in the 1990s is a pretty cool summary of a decade in music. These two performances make great bookends: Vanilla Ice (Jan. 12, 1991) and Kid Rock (May 20, 2000). But when you can survey 90s pop music as a whole some mobius-strip-like qualities jump out. I mean, you can't go from Ice to Kid, or from Color Me Badd's "I Wanna Sex You Up" (Oct. 5, 1991) to Sisqo's "The Thong Song" (Apr. 15, 2000), or from Tom Petty (Oct. 12, 1991) to, well, Tom Petty (Apr. 10, 1999), without thinking you've travelled a long way to end up in the exactly the same spot.

Found on SNL Transcripts (which includes the Delicious Dish with Pete Schweddy).
