It's interesting that not many

It's interesting that not many people are talking about the importance of web site usability in the context of our aging population. While we fuss over accessibility, a sizable and growing percentage of the population has trouble with small type and, in some cases, has difficulty with fine motor skills.

But are we designing for them? Generally, I think, no.

(Aside: I'm reminded of a presentation I saw by Mark Vale where he cited some study that showed that 25% of Canadians are functionally illiterate. And how do we design for these people, since the web's still a text-based medium?)
