As you've probably guessed by now, Atomiq is the weblog of Gene Smith (me, at right). I live in Edmonton, Canada.

Work

My company, nForm, helps people make better software, websites and other interactive products. We do customer research, business process analysis, interaction design, information architecture and product prototyping. Our passion is designing successful cross-channel experiences--where the web is a core channel--for organizations and their customers. My current work mantra is "collaborate, iterate, evaluate."

Life

I live with my partner Jen and my three wonderful kids. Noah is 10, loves building with Lego and has acquired a pretty impressive knowledge of Greek mythology in the past few months. My daughter Avery is probably the best eight-year old artist ever. Evan is brand new, just going on three months.

In my spare time (what little there is) I like hiking and backpacking, running, reading, and writing.

I live fairly close to the Canadian Rockies, and I try to get out there as much as I can. I bought cross-country skis last year and I've spent much of this summer looking forward to the winter.
